Q: admin user name change
i reinstalled Yosemite, which solved a problem.
however the user name i had before, INITIALS, is not the user name i have now, FULL NAME.
i surely, and by not paying attention to the prompt, entered my full name when i intended to enter my initials.
i prefer the shorter user name because it takes up less space in the menu bar.
i have investigated the System Preferences options: Users & Groups, (unlock) then, Change Password, Login Options, and nowhere is there an option to change Admin name.
can i undo my mistake? can i revert to the Admin name ‘INITIALS’ without having to reinstall the entire OS?
how is it done?

In system preferences > users and groups > Unlock the lock in the bottom left corner.
Then hold control and click on your user name, select advanced options. Change the user name from here, and restart the computer.
