Q: Import problem from Nikon D750

Hi, Have a Nikon D750 loading onto a iMac w Yosemite 10.10, Aperture 3.6, and Digital Raw update 6.02 (Looks like the D750 was included on 6.01 update).  Files will load into preview but clicking on one to get it on the desktop causes a warning saying the files are not recognized.  I dumped the files and reloaded them.  Most pictures are workable but some still are not recognizable beyond the preview.  Suggestions?  Thanks

Yes, your camera should be supported since Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 6.01: OS X Yosemite: Supported digital camera RAW formats - Apple Support

Has it ever worked? Could you work with the images using the previous RAW Support version?  Then try to reprocess the RAW:

Select the images and use the command "Photos > Reprocess original":

Hi, this is a brand new camera.  I used a Nikon D700 prior to this without problems.  I have tried to load to different shoots and have had problems with both of them.

if the RAW files worked before the Yosemite upgrade, try this:

Make a backup of your system and try to downgrade the RAW support to version 6.01

To downgrade the RAW Support to the last version from before the last update try this:

    • To reinstall the 'RAW Compatibility Update' it is necessary to uninstall the currently installed raw support. Otherwise the installer will rightfully say, that you already have the latest version installed.
    • If your tests are showing that the problem happens also in a different user account, try this:

The RAW support files are installed in the System Library in the folder "/System/Library/CoreServices" Folder:

    • To open this folder, use the Finder's "Go" menu. Click the smiling Finder icon in the Dock to bring the Finder forward.
    • Then type the keyboard shortcut ⇧⌘G  (for "Finder > Go > Go to folder")  and copy and paste "/System/Library/CoreServices" into the text field. Click the "Go" button.
    • In the Finder window that will open, delete both the files "RawCamera.bundle" and "RawCameraSupport.bundle". You will have to enter your Administrator password. (don't empty the Trash, so you can put the files back, if need be)
    • Download the current RAW support update from Apple's Support Site:
    • Digital Camera RAW Compatibility 6.01 http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1777?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

In the Downloads folder you will find the disk image with the installer. Double click it to open and run and the installer.

    Then restart your Mac.

Hi thanks for the info.  I am not sure why this worked.  Should  I avoid any further updates of the digital raw files?

We have seen here several questions about problems with unrecognized RAW formats.  It could be, that one of the RAW support downloads from the AppStore was corrupted, but the versions on the Support Downloads page were o.k.

Should  I avoid any further updates of the digital raw files?

I hope the future versions will correct this glitch, but keep a backup of the support file you just downloaded, just in case.
