Q: Is Siri supposed to be working in iOS8?

I have Siri turned on. I have Hey Siri turned on. Siri does not respond to "Hey Siri." If I ask Siri a question by holding the home button, it displays the question, and then puts up some complete random answer like "I can't find any nearby restaurants," and does not speak it. What part, if any, of Siri is supposed to be functional in the current iOS? Thanks.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1), 2.6G i7

All of Siri is perfectly functional under iOS 8.1.2 on my iPhone and iPad Air. The "Hey, Siri" feature works especially well for me when my phone is in the dock by my bed.

What troubleshooting steps have you taken? Have you tried resetting your device by pressing and holding the Home button and power button until the apple appears? Have you tried resetting the network settings? Have you restored from a back up? Restored as new? Do you have a good data connection?

I Have rebooted, have not restored. Not sure how restoring content would impact Siri. The data connection is reasonably good; certainly good enough for Siri to understand what I'm saying based on the screen display.

GOod to know it works for you.

IS Siri limited by the country you're in?

Yes, how Siri works is affected by both the language you chose and the country you're in. See this article:

TThanks for the link. It confirmed that Siri should work as expected and provide basic information including web searches, which it is not doing for me.

BTw Google Voice responds with the correct search results.

    PUzzled.

Interestingly, I have a lot of trouble with Google's voice recognition (for searching, not for dictation). Although it's been a problem across multiple Android phones, it was worst on my Samsung S5. And forget Samsung's S-Voice. I don't know why some people with standard accents have trouble with certain recognition engines.

SSiri doesn't seem to have a problem with my diction; it displays the appropriate question when I speak it. It has difficulty providing a cogent answer, often producing a seemingly random response.
