Q: turn off default reminder

Hi,

I have an issue with the reminders app. I use it a lot for reminding me to watch uni lectures that i have missed. so i put in a lot of entries such as 'watch lecture from monday' or 'watch tuesday's lecture'. however, when the title of a reminder has the name of a day in it, the app automatically creates an alert for the next occurrence of that day.

for example, today is friday the 7th. if i created a reminder today that said 'watch lecture from monday', it would by default create an alert for monday the 10th.

how can i turn this feature off? i dont want to have alerts for these entries and i don't want to have to manually delete the alerts each time (I do several of these per week).

Cheers.

    Interesting.

Well, I found a workaround, but it involves LaunchBar :-)

It must be that the Reminders application parses your input and automatically adds this.  But if I add items via a 3rd party method (in my case, LaunchBar), an item like "Watch Tuesday's lecture" does not automatically add a reminder to it.  Adding it in-app does, as you noted.

Ok. I dont really want to have to use a third party add-on but thanks for the suggestion, I will take a look at it. What would be the most 'lightweight' add-on for just adding reminders?

I also noticed it doesn't do this when added from ios, only from the desktop version.

I would like to be able to turn off this feature too. It's really a hassle to go back in and turn off the alert every time I edit a reminder with a date in it.
