Q: iMac Not Booting Up Completely Beyond Apple Icon
I have a 2011 iMac 27". Before things hit the fan, the screen was displaying oddly. While I was working on anything, the screen would suddenly go to blank with multiple light blue screen lines on a white background then goes completely white. I can not see the mouse cursor. Try to bring up the force quit screen but it doesn't seem like it is responding to the keyboard. When I put the screen to sleep with the power button and wake it up, the screen goes back to normal.
Now the screen stays totally white and blank. I tried rebooting normally, in safe mode and off an external drive that has the Mac OS, pull the power plug and zap the PRAM to clear the static ram. I see the Apple icon and progress bar at startup but then they disappear and the screen stay blank and white. I notice the vent on top get very hot sooner.
Does anyone know what is going on?
iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5), null
