Q: How can I uninstall OS X Mavericks and go back to default?

I installed OS X Mavericks on my Mac, and ever since, I haven't been able to access my applications from within the finder. I want to downgrade from OS X Mavericks back to OS X. Is this possible and how can I do it?

MacBook Pro (15-inch 2.53 GHz), OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

Yes, but back up your system first.

If your Mac came pre-installed with OS X Lion or Mountain Lion, you can use Internet Recovery (Command+Option+R) to boot into Apple's servers. From the OS X Utilities Menu, you can use Disk Utility to erase your Macintosh HD then close that and select the Reinstall OS X Mac option from the Menu.

If your Mac came pre-installed with OS X Snow Leopard, you can use the installation DVD to erase your Macintosh HD and install Snow Leopard.
