Welcome to the Support Communities! I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with "The Escape" book that you purchased from the iBooks Store. Although you have tried some of these steps, try them again in the order presented. If the issue is still not resolved, I've included a link to report the problem to the iBooks Store support team.
Download past purchases - Apple Support

- Sign in with the Apple ID that you used for the original purchase. Use these steps to see which Apple ID you used to download an item.
- See if the content is available for redownload. Previously purchased items might not be available if they're no longer on the iTunes Store. If you changed your Apple ID from one country to another, you can’t download items you purchased in a previous country.
Books
Follow these steps to download purchased books:
- Tap iBooks. If you're using iBooks 3.2 or earlier, tap Store.
- Tap Purchased from the bottom navigation bar.
- Tap the book that you want to download.
Get help
You might find the answer to your question below:
- If your download was interrupted, learn how to resume the download.
- See what to do if you have trouble using an app.
- Make sure your computer is authorized using the Apple ID that you used for the original purchase.
- Make sure your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV, Mac, or PC is associated with your Apple ID.
- Make sure you’re in a country where iTunes in the Cloud is available.
- If you’re having trouble downloading an item, make sure you can download the item again from iTunes in the Cloud. You might want to sync the content to another device instead.
- If you can't find the item that you purchased in the iTunes Store, report a problem with the item. You can report a problem with a purchase made within the last 90 days.
- If you have a problem with an older purchase, contact iTunes Store support.
After you download your purchases, back up your iTunes library. Previous purchases might be unavailable if they've been refunded or aren't on the iTunes Store.

Dec 28, 2014 1:48 PM in response to judysingsby Nittany46,Thanks so much for your reply. Those are exactly the steps I had done before which did not work. Funny, today I tried them and was able to download the book to my IMac and my IPhone, but not to the IPad. Had the same problem with it. This is such a weird problem because it has happened with no other book. I appreciate knowing I can get help from this site, just found it and since i am not at all a techy am going to appreciate it..
