Q: Since IOS 8 Update Unable to receive Yahoo mail

After updating iPhone to IOS 8, I can't get Yahoo mail account to work.

Having searched posts of others with similar problem, I have tried suggested fixes.  I have deleted and added this mail account numerous times, powering off and restarting phone each time.  I've checked settings.  I've reconnected to iTunes to sync.

After 2 days of effort, I am finally able to send emails from Yahoo account, but am still unable to receive emails.  Instead, the inbox is empty and the notification bar shows:

"Checking for Mail" changes to "Updated Just Now" for a split second then reverts to "Checking for Mail" and continues in never-ending loop with no mail 'delivered'.

Resources below, given to many others having similar problems, have not resolved the problem.

IOS: Troubleshooting Mail and

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3899

The only way I've been able to access Yahoo mail account is by downloading their App.  I'd rather have all mail available through Apple Mail system as it was before updating to IOS 8.0.2.

I'm having the exact same problem on iPad since upgrade to IOS 8.

Any help appreciated.

Hi. The USER NAME setting now needs to be the ENTIRE email address with the @yahoo.com or @verizon.net added at the end. Hope this helps.

We have been dealing with this for days!  I'm so disgusted.  I've been on the phone with verizon and apple for hours several nights repeating myself over and over to different customer service reps and techs.  No one could help.

Thank you for this answer. Don't companies communicate with their customer service techs and tell them that there are issues going on and they are trying to fix it? I wouldn't have wasted so much time on the phone, online chat and research--I would have just waited.

All of a sudden yesterday the email came up!  It loaded hundreds of old emails!  My husband went through and trashed all of his old emails.

We have an older ipad, a new ipad (Model MD510LL/A) purchased this summer from APPLE online and 2 iphones (Iphone 4 and one is iphone 5 bought this summer at Target).  The older apple products are now running with this tip you gave here.

The new ipad and iphone received  today all the old emails AGAIN, but no new ones nor the "testing emails" I sent from my ipad.

NOTE: I have not had any trouble with my webmail on my Hewlett Packer Laptop.  I really question myself whether I would purchase another apple product.  I had been looking at a new iphone, but that's not happening.  By the way--I myself do not like the larger size on the iphone 6.  I just want a phone that fits neatly in my pocket and purse and not a "mini-mini ipad."

NOW how can I correct the new ipad and iphone 5?

Thanks for the suggestion, but I was already doing that, so it didn't help.

As an update to my original post, mail issue has resolved itself.  I took my problem to local Apple Store.  An associate was unable to correct the failure to connect to Yahoo mail through Apple's mail app. However, another associate said difficulty was with Yahoo server and should clear up in a few days.  He was right - it did. Mail is now functioning as it did before upgrade.

My husband has spent the last two days and 3-4 hours each day with AppLE and Verizon trying to get someone to help him get his email up again.  He has a new iPad purchased this summer and a new iPhone 5.  He is so frustrated.  This is ridiculous to spend this much money on a product and it doesn't work! Plus the wasted time and stress.  I know when I was working on it my blood pressure was rising bc it is so frustrating, repeating everything again and again.

i Have an iPhone 4 and and older iPad and after a few days, i started to get my email again on them.

Why isn't someone from Apple on here monitoring this and helping out!

The same problem started for me last night.   No OS update.   Tried all the usual steps.  I'm able to send but not receive e-mails but only on this one device, other iphone and ipad are OK.   :-(

I have the same issue. Iphone 6 ios 8.1.2 and yahoo mail inbox remains empty and is not updating. Gmail and hotmail accounts are working normally.

Tried all the tips but the yahoo inbox folder remains empty. All my other yahoo folders are normally filled and updated.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

I had this same issue on my iPhone 5s.  I had over 3000 emails in my yahoo mail inbox.  I logged into my yahoo mail account on my PC, and I deleted all messages in my inbox except for 50 Emails.  I can now receive new messages on my iPhone.

The fix seems to be, wait a few days and it will start working again.  Mine just fixed itself after two days.   I assume its some kind of weird communication issue between the IOS mail app and the Yahoo servers; I have yet to see a useful fix.     I also went ahead and installed the Yahoo Mail App as a backup; actually, its probably a more secure option, particularly if you use 2nd Verification method with Yahoo.

Same problem but with iPad2, IOS 8.1.1  In addition, many personal email folders are empty yet accessible on macbook. To try and keep my blood pressure down, can anyone suggest where to go with this problem and hopefully resolution? I have little or no faith that Apple will respond, as ever since iOS 8 my iPad has become basically a mouse pad for macbook.

    Thanks

As noted in another reply I have no email in Inbox and several random personal folders are now empty. This problem started few weeks after upgrade iPad 2 to 8.1.1, and today upgraded to IOS 8.2 in hopes that might jog email into working. Duh.

My Macbook has nothing in Inbox but personal folders intact

Went back into old Windows 7 PC, Yahoo email, and Lo and Behold! I have a working inbox and no missing folders.

So can anyone still say this is not an Apple problem?
