Q: "dual link DVI" ports?

does anyone know what the back of my mac pro should look like to accommodate a 30" HD cinema display with "dual link DVI"?

It needs to have a dual-link DVI port, Mini DisplayPort, or Thunderbolt port. Click here for more information.

hi niel,

i am a little confused here and i can't figure out exactly even from reading another link on display ports. the monitor is here: http://www.everymac.com/monitors/apple/studio_cinema/specs/apple_cinema_display_ 30.html and my mac pro is a 2012.

are you saying that if i have a Mini Display Port - which i am almost positive i have on this machine - that i can definitely hook the 30" display up to this machine?

Yes, with a Mini DisplayPort to dual-link DVI adapter. If you use a single-link one, the monitor won't go beyond 1280 by 800.

can i ask please if you have any opinion on this monitor? i look at it tomorrow and i have to spend 200 on a KVM switch anyway so i am wondering if this is a better route...
