Q: How can I have two iTunes media folders?
I have lots of music I would like to transfer to a high capacity iPod classic. I want to store the music to sync to this iPod in an external hard drive with lots of extra space, as to not fill my Macintosh HD. To do this I hope to create two iTunes media folders, one stored on an external hard drive for syncing to my iPod, and one for normal use on my internal hard drive. I know I can use the "change iTunes media folder location" button on the advanced preferences pane to put an iTunes media folder on my external drive, but will I be able to keep the current one and switch between them at will?

Hi there theskyisblue,
You can indeed switch between two different iTunes libraries, and this article outlines how:
iTunes: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one
- If iTunes is running, quit iTunes.
- If you're using Windows, hold down the Shift key and from the Start menu, choose All Programs > iTunes > iTunes.
- If you're using a Mac, open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option key.
- You should see one of these screens:

All the best,
