Q: Network homes broken after logging into server

Hello

I have a Mac Pro which is running Yosemite with Server. Everything works fine with network accounts until one of my users logs into the MacPro containing the server.

After logging into the server mac and then into a client mac the desktop files don't load, and finder crashes immediately after login, if forced to relaunch it crashes again immediately (not responding). Also in System preferences if I go to the security pane it crashes there also.

After a bit of investigation I have found that when logging into the server mac it creates the following files in ~/Library/Accounts  Accounts3.sqllite Accounts3.sqllite-shm Accounts3.sqllite-wall.    If these files are deleted from the network home the users can login and out and use everything perfectly until they log in to the server mac again and then the problem starts again.

When the problem is there login and use of the server mac is still fine, but won't work on any of the client macs.

All macs are running the most up-to-date versions of Yosemite.

Any ideas folks? It's driving me insane!

Many Thanks

    Thanks for the link.

Is there a way around this as I use the server as my main computer?

I should note that I always log off the server before trying to log into a client.

Convert to mobile accounts that sync with the server. However, if the users log in to more than one machine at a time, there will be sync conflicts.

I believe this a major Apple bug. This behavior is new and oftentimes (if ever) doesn't correct itself after a server reboot. It's ridiculous that you can't log into a network account at the server, even Windows isn't that stupid. I spent many hours w/ Apple's Enterprise support team and they never considered that to be an issue until later. That suggests to me that it's a problem they discovered after release of Yosemite and as a CYA tried to make us believe that it's expected behavior. The kb article that Linc references only indicates that users may have trouble logging in. Logging in is not the issue, it's that the Finder hangs for some unknown reason. However, once logged in you can traverse the directory structure no problem in Terminal. It's also strange that you get no error trying to mount a volume from the command line using diskutil even though it won't appear on the Desktop. Like Hydro_host I occasionally need to use my server as another workstation for my small home network. This needs to get fixed!
