Worked with Apple support. The steps below worked:

Closed all apps, shut down phone, unplugged base station, plugged base station back in, wait for green light, fired up phone and jjoined network. Tested with cellular data off

    I had the same issue. What worked for me was;

change the the password of the wireless router--->attempt to connect iphone via new password (this should connect)--->change router password back to original--->reconnect iphone to router via original password

Issue resurfaced next day. Worked with support, reset all settings not just network. So far so good, but as suggested above probably easier to just change wireless password, then change back

nothing seems to work for me. Since 8.1.2 even the free wi-fi connection stopped working :/ It finds the wi-fi, but it just does not connect. On secure wifi I get the error 'Incorrent passwrod' and on free I get 'Unable to join'. I even restored the ipad and set it up as a new ipad, but it still does not work ....This thing is just useless without internet :/ I shouldn't have updated  to iOS 8.

    To fix the problem

go Settings>privacy>location services>system services and switch off Wi-Fi networking. restart your device and try again.

    mines a pint

I tried resetting network settings, no luck (funny how apple is now like microsoft.  Problem?  Just return do a fresh install.  We'd rather have you spend time reinstalling everything, getting your settings how you want them, etc, and do this every couple months, than just fix our own bug).

Finally changing the router wifi password to something new, connecting, then changing it back fixed the problem.

Once again, I am thoroughly disappointed with apple.  This is clearly a common problem, and they won't even tell us "Yes, we acknowledge that it exists, we are working on it".  They are just completely mute.

Have the same problem as well on ipad mini. Nothing works

    Tried the following:

    -reset network setting

    -restore

    -DFU restore

    -changed router password

    -removed password requirement on network

    -changed password encryption method

    -check MAC address table

    -manual setup the connection

I can however connect in the mac-store to the free wifi network, but nowhere else (very inconvenient to get in-store support). My device is out of warranty by 14 days. This feels like a software "feature" to convince me to buy a new one. I believe apple needs to acknowledge the problem and create a fix.

I just got a brand new Ipad Air 2 running 8.1 and had this same wifi password problem. The only thing that fixed it for me was adding the MAC address of the iPad manually in my router. Thanks for suggesting this!

Well, I am in the unfortunate ones who can access everywhere but at work. I can access fine with my Android tablet and windows laptop, but not my new iphone 6.  And I've tried everything suggested that you can try from the Apple end of it.  The fact that every other device works flawlessly but I can't use my applie products (Iphone 6 and ipad) is a huge disappointment.  Especially when this seems to be a widespread problem that Apple appears to have ignored.

Had same problem. Somehow , not sure why, got  connected again by using CAPITAL LETTERS when typing in password.

    Good luck

Ok i have another solution which has worked for me when i was connecting and disconnecting every time i opened up an App. I think the problem is that the phone gets confused between 5ghz channel and 2.4 ghz channel on the wifi router. To solve this you need to go into your router setting and change the name of your 5ghz channel to something else.

So i now have 2 channels when i search for wifi.

My normal router name (bthomehumb- numbers)

my 5ghz channel names (5ghz channel)

Then once done connect your phone to the 2.4 ghz channel. I now have no problems with connecting to my home net.

I hope this helps some of you

    I agree with Reaper_gfx above.

I had the wi fi/password connect problem with my Ipad over a long period until I shut down the 5ghz channel on the router a couple of months back, now no further trouble.

(except cannot connect to Apple TV box unless I turn it on again)!!!
