Nov 21, 2014 10:24 AM in response to Axeman1020by McQ14,Thanks for the reply. So far that hasn't worked. I thought it did at first, but after closing iTunes and then reopening it later the same day, I got the complete set of log in requests.
This is a weird one.

Dec 29, 2014 8:34 AM in response to McQ14by McQ14,Anyone? Posted a month ago and still iTunes asks me for my password (four times) when I open it.
One thing I noticed is that it does this if I clear my Safari browsing history. I can't imagine why that would matter, but it seems to be the case.
Anyone have an idea on this?
Thanks!

Jan 1, 2015 5:56 AM in response to McQ14by wayne0k,★HelpfulI also had this problem and logged a request for help at: iTunes: multiple "sign in" required on launch
There have been no replies yet, but 3 other people have the same problem.
This morning my sign-in experience was this:
Launched iTunes and prompted these three times:
• sign in to use this computer for automatic downloads…
then:
• sign-in required to check for downloads…
then:
• sign in to use this computer for automatic downloads…
So, the problem still exists.

Jan 1, 2015 8:51 AM in response to wayne0kby McQ14,Wayne, thanks for posting your reply. It's very helpful to know others are having the same issue, even if there's no solution yet. I'll check that link as well and keep an eye open for answers there, too.
You'd think Apple would be much more aware of this. Even the phone support specialist I spoke with was totally unfamiliar with the problem and had no solution.
Hwe ope we find something soon.

Jan 2, 2015 7:00 AM in response to McQ14by notcloudy,It may simply be because you have an active internet connection --- or you are setup to allow your mac to connect to the internet when it needs something - such as help support (most of it now seems to be online only-bit negative for use).
As I only use I tunes in order to make playlists the equivalent of a custom tape from cd's I already own - I do not open Itunes or any other Apple software when on-line -- so it does not check the mother ship -- also setup does not allow the mac to connect to the internet whenever it wants to.

Jan 2, 2015 7:14 AM in response to notcloudyby Jassy,Thank you, notcloudy. That seems to make sense. However, for me, this is recent. I have had the same set up as I do now since I became an internet/online user. This issue is new. I wish I could pinpoint since when, ie, installation of updates such as Lion, Mountain Lion, Yosemite, or other system updates. I simply can't. But I know this is new. Not something that has been ongoing. I wonder if the others in the post, Wayne and McQ share my feelings.

Jan 2, 2015 10:09 AM in response to notcloudyby McQ14,Like Jassy, this is a relatively new issue. I hate to say it, but it seemed to coincide with my Mavericks update. I doubt it's because of that, specifically, but it was around the same time. I really think it's some kind of Safari/iTunes issue.
I actually don't understand what you mean by an active internet connection being the problem. I'm only on line when my Mac is turned on and (I assume) when I'm on email or browsing the web. I don't have any connections set up when I'm not actively on line. But even so, I don't know wh that would cause me to have to log in to iTunes (four times in rapid succession) every time I clear my browser history.
That seems to be the one thing that causes it though - clearing my Safari History. If I don't clear it, iTunes doesn't require me to log back in. Only when I clear it does iTunes make me do those four log ins.
Hope that helps clarify this. I'm not a real whiz at this.

Jan 2, 2015 10:41 AM in response to McQ14by notcloudy,When you clear web site data (cookies and local data) you are clearing your sign on status to Apple.
I have had times where the apple site suddenly does not work (this in particular) it had issues with the sign in status unless I cleared the web site data.
There are retail store sites that keep your wish list in that local data apparently - so this is the same deal.
The ask for sign in may have to do podcast updates - checking status etc. or software updates that you have configured for automatic checks.
For about the time frame mentioned - if I opened ITUNES while on-line ITUNES would try to connect to the ITUNES store and lately I think look for the sign-on. Same for Iwork pieces.

Jan 2, 2015 1:44 PM in response to notcloudyby McQ14,Ok, thank you. This probably explains why it's happening. Now the hard part is making it stop doing that. It never used to do this, ever. I have always made a habit of clearing browser cache, history, etc. from the first day I ever used a browser (decades now). It only just began happening.
This leads me to believe that Apple changed something and whatever that change is, causes the issue. How do we solve it?
Any ideas?
Thanks again!

Jan 3, 2015 4:39 AM in response to McQ14by uroborus,Let me add my name to this list. I noticed that it started right after the last update. Very annoying and it also either gets stuck or lags when trying to connect with my AppleTV. I hope the next update corrects this. I may try some of your suggestions, but not much faith at this point.
