I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your Apple TV. If your Apple TV isn't showing up in iTunes to restore when you connect it via a micro-USB cable, you may find the following article helpful:

I ended up calling apple support and they basically said that there might have been interference while doing an upgrade and it is having a hard time powering up. So, I exchanged it, with no problems, where I bought it from. I reinstalled and made sure to turn automatic updates off so I have more control over when updates are happening.
