Q: How do I turn off the "cellular data is turned off for "podcasts"" message?

I keep getting this message or one like it for every app with the cellular data turned off when I am not connected to wifi. Is there a way to make this message go away like the don't show message in the future option windows gives users? I understand it probably helps users that aren't very knowledgable when it comes to using their phone but I do and it is very annoying. It was less annoying a message like it for location services but now I have to tap away the message 10 or more times a day.

This issue is over once you upgrade to OS 8.1. The Podcast App disappears. It's not even for sale on the App store. So, I guess Apple WAS listening. Buy yourself a new app after reading some ratings. Wish I had done it sooner... much better!

    1. The issue has nothing to do with which podcast app you use. I have the problem the Overcast Podcast Player.

    2. The Apple Podcast app is not gone. It's just an integral part of iOS8, which means you can't remove it from your iPhone.

Just adding my voice to the chorus of people saying that this is a real problem, it affects multiple users, and it really diminishes the user experience.

What do we have to do to get a response from Apple???  I've sent feedback numerous times though the proper channels as I know many of you have.  Do they even look at these forums?  For some evil reason, recently a couple of apps have been popping up the message TWICE (without closing out of the app)!  It caused me to almost crash my car the other day.  Unbelievable.

Do we need to start a new forum?  I feel that the title, relating specifically to the "Podcasts" app, sends the wrong message.  This is a systemic problem in the entire iOS interface!

PS...Apple clearly IS monitoring these forums as they removed a post placed by someone making a "non-traditional" recommendation that Apple is clearly against.  If you don't want us to do that to our phones, then provide your own fix you Apple A***oles!  I for one took a screen shot of that post and will be following the advice given.  There is clearly no fix coming from Apple.

I got a response from them: They pulled my post because I suggested jail break ing the phone in order to install a tweak that does away with these annoying messages.  I don't think they liked that someone else figured out how to solve the customers' problem.  Then again, they will probably remove this post too.

My Podcast app completely disappeared when I upgraded to v.8. I couldn't figure out how to get it back so I bought an app for $2.99. I still get the notices, but it has been cut to less than 10% as many times as before. There are many out there. I bought one called iCatcher and it imported all my subscriptions & back episodes so it was very easy except I had to go into settings for each subscription.

I am using 8.1.1 and when I first tried the Enable Restrictions/Cellular Data Use/Don't Allow Changes, it didn't work for me at first.  However, I noticed a couple days later that the Notes app wasn't bothering me all the time that Cellular data was turned off.

That was 3 weeks ago, and still no more annoying messages.  Hurrah!

    Hello

    Try the following:

    Settings

    Control center

    turn off (access within application)

    Found it by accident

    Good Luck

Unfortunately one of the other posters is correct.  This problem will never get fixed as it is done for two very distinct reasons

    1) Apple wants the support and advertisers want the apps to have cellular data access.  Hence they make this annoying notification so that you will conform.

    2) By obtaining your conformity, you phone will drain the battery faster.  You will eventually tire of this and tend to upgrade your phone hardware i.e. a new phone.

Since I bought and started using a $3 podcast app, I haven't been bothered but once the first day with this message. Well worth it!

Please share with the rest of the class.  What app?  And what makes it so special?  Are you using it INSTEAD OF the apple podcast app?

There are probably several good ones, but I bought iCatcher. It imported all my saved podcasts and subscriptions, but you have to go in and reset your settings, such as how many to keep. Some extra features: rate your favorites so they download first and you can set up a playlist so if you listen for long periods, maybe on a long drive, you don't have to mess with the phone.

Ok.  So not fixing the issue of the annoying reminders; instead bypassing the use of the programs that cause them.
