Mar 21, 2011 7:44 PM in response to jkc73by AldenP,see if the file is in the folder with your song's title. that folder should hold everything.
search your hard drive - if the file is elsewhere, move it to the song folder. -
Mar 22, 2011 5:07 AM in response to AldenPby jkc73,When I search for the file Finder, it doesn't find it. This is a sound file associated with a patch in a Logic VI. So loading it, it should be there, but it's not. There's quite a few of these I've noticed. -
Mar 22, 2011 10:41 AM in response to jkc73by AldenP,Are you the administrator on the computer? If not that might be why you can't find it.
Did you record this sound or do you mean it's a Logic 6 instrument or something like that?
If it's a sound the program always can use like a loop or an instrument you could look in the directories where the loops or sounds or instruments are kept. I think they're always in the administrator's stuff, not other users. They're kept in:
library/audio/apple loops
library/application support/logic/sampler instruments
In my directory library/application support/logic/sampler instruments/06 Pop Strings/ I'm seeing 8 files like: Cello (Arco).exs -- no wav files.
I think Logic has changed the file types it uses. For instance the loops are now .caf files, and they used to be .aif files - maybe they used to use wav files. -
Mar 22, 2011 6:48 PM in response to AldenPby jkc73,I mean it's a Logic Instrument that's not loading up. There's a few I found. One of the string patches, one of the horn patches, and one of the guitar patches. Not sure what else is "missing".
The whole message is actually "EXS24 instrument "String Ensemble.exs: Audio file "06f9bF1.wav" not found".
Another one is "EXS24 instrument “Classical Acoustic Guitar.exs”: Audio file “50A-2GA1-09.aif” not found!"
And finally, the horn one is "EXS24 instrument “Alto Sax.exs”: Audio file “YTASMLNOMA2X2” not found!"
I am the only user on the computer and am the Admin. I'll look in those folders. Not sure what's going on.
I'm going to upgrade to Logic Studio in a few days, so hopefully (knock on wood) it'll clear up some of this stuff, but I'm not so sure.

Mar 22, 2011 8:32 PM in response to jkc73by AldenP,hmm sounds like the exs file might be corrupt? reinstall maybe... -
Mar 23, 2011 4:11 AM in response to AldenPby jkc73,Reinstalled Express from DVD last night. No change. Same files missing. -
Mar 23, 2011 8:47 AM in response to jkc73by jkc73,I just tried to create a new session the Songwriter template.
And I got another missing file...
"EXS24 instrument "Fretless Electric Bass.exs" not found."
Definitely odd that a Logic Express Template is missing a portion of it.
Dunno what to do, but this is definitely annoying. -
Mar 23, 2011 12:31 PM in response to jkc73by AldenP,I wonder if a previous install left a folder with corrupt files and the new version didn't overwrite? Maybe try a clean install. Beyond that I don't know but I'm sure others on this board can help... -
Mar 23, 2011 12:42 PM in response to AldenPby jkc73,Well, good news is I'm getting Logic Studio in a few days. I'm going to do a clean uninstall and fresh install of Logic Pro, so hopefully (knocking on my mahogany Martin) I won't see the same things happening after Pro is installed.
Out of curiosity, what's the best way to do a complete uninstall of Logic Express?

Mar 23, 2011 5:55 PM in response to jkc73by jkc73,Solution: Everything that was missing was GarageBand content. I never bothered with GarageBand since I've gotten my new 2011 MacBook Pro, so none of the extra content was ever downloaded. I went and downloaded the extra samples and loops and now nothing is missing. -
Apr 27, 2011 8:50 AM in response to jkc73by indiana219,how did you do that i am having the same problem can you tell me what you did you fix the problem
-
Oct 28, 2011 5:20 PM in response to indiana219by StevenW,Incase anyone else has the issue, as I did last night and needs a little more instruction.
Go into Garage Band and find an instrument that looks grayed out (the writing is in a light gray color : EG clean guitar) then click on it. Garage Band will say that to load this instrument you will need to download additional garage band content. Approve the download and OSX will start downloading.
It would have been helpful if Logic did the same thing!
Steven.
