Later this year when the Mac supports iCloud Photo library you will no longer have this problem

Jan 4, 2015 8:10 AM in response to ZenDwiby léonie,iOS 8 edits are represented in a format, that iPhoto and Aperture cannot read. When you download your photos with Image Capture instead of with iPhoto, you may see sidecar files "IMG_20XX.AAE", or similar. These are the edited versions of your photos, describing the filters and other settings. The problems is, that there there are not yet any apps on the Mac, that can read these files. We'll just have to wait a bit.

Jan 4, 2015 10:30 AM in response to léonieby ZenDwi,Thanks, I got around it by air dropping the edited photo to my iPad then connected the iPad to the Mac and iPhoto imported the photos in the edited format from the iPad. Strange but it worked. It only started doing this after I updated the Mac to Yosemit. Away thanks for your help.
