Nov 10, 2014 7:46 PM in response to Whoisluckiestospreyifmedontby Ajdnfjcksosj,Just in case, I did the restore while the iPhone was IN the fridge, otherwise, it warms up while sitting outside the fridge and the restore fails !
I did not use the freezer though.

Dec 14, 2014 2:08 AM in response to johncali9by TechVille,HEY! I just got my iPhone 4s working again! Freezer trick got me farther with the process but it didn't fix the error 3 all the way. So what I did was that I ordered a new cable from eBay that was two times longer than the original cable. Then I just plugged it in the computer and put my phone into a DFU mode. Then I just restored it normally this time without freezer and amazingly my phone booted up again and started working.
This is the cable that I used:

Dec 27, 2014 3:05 PM in response to kennethyoungby webba77,Hi Kenneth and all,
I had this problem with my Ipad on the Christmas day I have just over 2 years old Ipad2 WiFI+3G but have not used SIM with that. It was running IOS 7.xx and suddenly it started the searching for 3G network even thought I do not have the SIM installed. Then it started to reboot in 1-2 minutes, black screen run over from left to right. Then dark screen and Apple logo and home screen a bit later. I could not do naything, I tried hard reboot. Then reset to default settings, then reset to factory default losing everything (my back up was really old, the automacci had not taken in many months.) After that I was not able to reregister the Ipad it just said that cannot contact Apple server or something like that (I only had WIFI). So I decided to do full clean via Itunes. And guess what now installing 8.1.2 I got the infamous error 3. And then I had this 600€ brick with me. Started to look for solutions (google) and found this thread. I red some and tried Itunes update with Win XP. Changed to my work laptop Win7 Pro and another cable etc. Disabling all FSecure things and no help. I stayd up untill 4 AM on boxing day morning. Then when I woke up I tried the freezer for 30 minutes. Did not help either. And today when we came back home from relatives I tried the update while in freezer. And guess what it worked. IPad is now up and running, try to restore my old back up and see if this thing works for longer time now.
Unbeliavable. I am happy. But this makes me think more closely on purchasing more Apple devices. We have several Ipads and IPhones at work. So far they have been better( more reliable) than some Samsung Galaxy things (2/3 have started to lose (eat) the SIM cards when nearing end of warranty periods), but this makes me think that these also have some problems.
Hopefully this was the only piece giving us this problem. At least this makes a good story.

Jan 5, 2015 2:53 PM in response to kennethyoungby SadeqEl,Hi Kenneth,
Your Freezer trick helped me as well. I have tried to resolve the error code 3 on my iPad 3 for more than a week and finally I found your post here.Thanks.
Now however, after getting the B***dy thing working on version 8. The iPad is rebooting every 2 minutes which is still making the iPad useless :-(
I have checked many forums but still could not find a solution. Any advise, hints?
Thank you
Sadeq

Jan 5, 2015 3:40 PM in response to webba77by SadeqEl,Hi there,
I had the same issues as you had. In my case I had the error code 3 first which I managed to resolve thanks to KennethYoung Freezer trick but now my iPad3 reboots every 2 minutes like yours was doing. Have you managed to resolve the reboot issue completely or did it come back again?
Thanks for your response.

Your freezer trick worked like a charm, i put the iphone 5s in a small plastic bag and put in freezer for about 20minutes, took it straight out and restored to latest ios 8.1.2.
Thank you so much Kenneth, apple were requesting about £199 for a replacement...which you have saved me from thank you!!!!!!
