Jan 3, 2015 12:51 AM in response to sterling rby tomala84,Hi
I have the same problem.
I installed everything from the scratch (os x on my mac mini)
Everything worked beautifully yesterday, today iTunes not recognize the iPod.
Ipod has been tested in the shop and it's OK.
I think iTunes needs some UPDATE.

Jan 3, 2015 10:42 AM in response to RossMilnerby Kangolman,Hi I had a similar issue with my 160gb Classic
Went through many things with Apple on the phone all to no avail.
Took it to the Genius Bar and managed to get it recognised by iTunes and then restore....but when i plugged it into my MBA or IMac it was not recognised by iTunes and just appeared on the desktop..again.
Given that i am using Yosemite and iTunes 12 and reinstalled iTunes, Apple answer was to do a reinstall on my MBA!
Reluctantly i did this and it worked!!!!!!!!
It was recognised by the ancient iTunes9 before updating to 12 again and it was still recognised....
Just got to reinstall all my music, photos, documents.....at least i have my retro 160Gb iPod Classic to load everything on....
hope this helps

Jan 3, 2015 4:53 PM in response to utvols2007by Hotrodguru,Alright, so I went back and installed the original version of Yosemite I had as suggested by utvols2007. Sure enough, soon as I reverted to an older install of OS X Yosemite, my iPod Classic 160 GB was visible and able to sync in iTunes.
At that point I was happy that I was able to get a few new albums transferred over to my iPod but couldn't remain with that version of Yosemite. Unfortunately, my original install was one of the Beta versions. After about 8 upgrades/restarts I'm back to where I was with the latest version of Yosemite and iTunes. I can NO LONGER see my iPod classic in iTunes but do see it on the desktop and finder.
Obviously a issue with one of the latest OS X updates. APPLE, provide an update to fix this ASAP.
OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 (14C81h)
iTunes Version 12.0.1.26

Jan 4, 2015 9:16 AM in response to Kangolmanby MiMe Adele,Got worse.
After re installing Yosemite, all was fine.
But then, My iMac asked for some updates... I agreed. It installed Yosemite 10.10.2 and upgrade restarted the computer.
Now iTunes (12.0.1.26) wont recognize my iPod (classic 160Gb purchased Oct 2014) nor my wife's Classic (80Gb 4-5 years old).
Now iTunes wont regognize my iPhone 5...
Pleaaaase Apple do something...

Jan 4, 2015 2:36 PM in response to RossMilnerby owlies,I am having the same problem! iPod classic mounts on the desktop, but doesn't appear in iTunes. Didn't have this problem before the update. I've tried restarting iPod and Macbook - nothing works.
Please fix this, I am going on a long plane flight and have to have my tunes on there. It's like Apple timed this bug to **** with me.

Jan 4, 2015 6:01 PM in response to Kangolmanby mwagg123,I also took part in the beta program. Currently running 10.10.2 and my iPods aren't being recognized by iTunes, rather just an icon on my desktop. Did you reinstall Yosemite to an earlier version? If so, how?-thank you (also I have an open case with Apple about this issue)

Jan 4, 2015 7:02 PM in response to mwagg123by utvols2007,I think I went into my account and downloaded Yosemite again. On my developer account.
