Jan 5, 2015 12:44 PM in response to iW00by peetythefly,Hi iW00
No, it does not happen in safe mode or with another user. So that narrows it down to just my user.
Also, I can empty my trash if there are no locked items. However, I never get the alert/prompt on whether or not to remove locked items if I try to empty what I currently have in my trash. Somehow, this alert prompt never shows up.

If safe mode and another user works ok, then you might check first your login items and if any, remove them all:
OS X Yosemite: Open items automatically when you log in
You might also check what is sitting in your user library in folder called LaunchAgents - boot to safe mode, open Finder, press SHIFT+CMD+G and in Go To Folder window paste ~/Library/LaunchAgents
If anything there, move to trash.
It won't harm, if you will also refresh Finder plist file - - boot to safe mode, open Finder, press SHIFT+CMD+G and in Go To Folder window paste ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist and move to trash selected file.
