Oct 8, 2012 3:41 AM in response to Rumblefish2010by diesel vdub,Where iTunes backups are stored on your computer
The folder where your backup data are stored varies depending on the computer's operating system. Make sure the backup folder is included in your periodic data-backup routine.
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
- Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
- Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, and choose Run. Type %appdata% and click OK. - Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the AppData folder, click Start. In the search bar, type %appdata% and press the Return key.
There is no option within iTunes to change the backup file location.

Mar 22, 2013 10:47 AM in response to diesel vdubby TotoPhi,Thanks for posting this.
Why is there no option within iTunes to change the backup file location? I figured out the workaround of aliasing to another location, but it still irks me that Apple feel they should control this location while they do NOT control the size of my C: drive nor the contents or the remaining space. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Jul 22, 2013 11:58 PM in response to TotoPhiby sixteenbits,Why? Because iTunes is horrible, bloated software.

Jul 23, 2013 2:00 AM in response to sixteenbitsby TotoPhi,I agree that it is horrible and bloated, but that doesn't explain why. One possible explanation is that somebody high up wants to play dictator - and dictators tend to be unthinking and unreasonable, right? Unwilling to fix errors which inevitably lead to their downfall...

Dec 16, 2013 8:00 AM in response to JSfromQCby jdmage_mx5b,You need to look under your user profile. Instead of going to
/Library/Application Support/
you need to go to
~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/

Jan 5, 2015 2:21 PM in response to JSfromQCby Bonnie789,Hello, I am a windows person, you need to edit the folder options to allow you to view hidden files and folders.
-click Start and search "folder options"
-select "folder options"
-select the 'View' tab from the folder option menu
- under Advanced settings: Files and Folders
-select "Show hidden files, folders, and drives"
-click the "Apply" button
-click the "OK" button
Backup will be located at:
C:\Users\**USERNAMEHERE**\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup

Jan 5, 2015 2:27 PM in response to Bonnie789by diesel vdub,The information was already provided to the OP over 2 years ago when the thread was first started. It has been over a year since the most recent comment was added. I seriously doubt the OP or anyone that responded needs further assistance.
Please read the time/date stamp on the thread before replying.

Jan 5, 2015 4:58 PM in response to diesel vdubby Bonnie789,Perhaps, if YOU have nothing to share in regards to answering the question, then you should not post a reply. I had this same issue and wanted to answer it for the next person. These backups are hidden and take up hard drive space.

Jan 5, 2015 5:07 PM in response to Bonnie789by diesel vdub,Perhaps if you bothered to take the time to READ the ENTIRE thread, then it would be obvious the answer was provided the day after the thread was started in 2012.
Keep in mind, posting does not give you point. Points are only award when the OP marks your post as solving their issue.

Apr 7, 2015 2:36 PM in response to Bonnie789by Robotika,Thank you, Bonnie. For some reason I thought I had hidden folders turned on, but it's your comment that got me to double check. I know this is an older post, but I figured I should thank you anyway.

Jun 8, 2015 12:42 PM in response to BallybailShannonby diesel vdub,This is the iTunes for Windows forums... it might be better to check in the Mac forums or see if Apple has updated their online documentation.
