Q: How do I stop my MacBook Pro from making shortcuts on my desktop when I'm moving a folder

So my question is,

How do I stop my MacBook Pro from making shortcuts on the desktop when I'm trying to move the original photo, all I want to do is move a picture from a folder on the desktop without making a shortcut!

MacBook Pro (15-inch Late 2011), OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)

    Hi RockHazard,

If you want to change the behavior of the Finder when moving files around you can use keyboard shortcuts.

OS X: Keyboard shortcuts - Apple Support

Way down under Finder shortcuts we find:

Command key while draggingMove the dragged item to another volume or location
(the pointer changes while key is held)
Option key while draggingCopy the dragged item
(the pointer changes while key is held)
Command-Option key combination while draggingMake an alias of the dragged item
(the pointer changes while key is held)

    Best regards,

    Nubz
