Dec 21, 2014 12:29 PM in response to mattormondby jennnnnifer,I have also had internet connectivity problems since upgrading. Wifi would not stay connected longer than 1-3 minutes. I called AppleCare twice, nothing was fixed. Went to the Genius Bar, waste of time. Then I found this thread. Some of the fixes (like removing the wifi capability altogether and re-adding it) helped keep the connection for up to an hour, but still persisted. I have tried several of the other suggestions here. Some have helped ease the problem, but none so far fixed the problem permanently, until…
I tried resetting the SMC as described. That seemed to fix the problem, but after trying so many things over the course of a few weeks I wasn't convinced.
So after resetting SMC, I also was inspecting our router settings and found "configure number of concurrent users that can be logged into the router" which was set to 5. I changed this to the max for our router: 10. So far my wifi has been steady and my MacBook Pro has been connecting on it's own (rather than me selecting our network) when I open the computer.
My connection seems more stable now, but not 100%. I hope this helps someone else. Apple, we need a patch release STAT!

Dec 21, 2014 12:25 PM in response to jennnnniferby PFJ30,Jenn, i don't wish to be a party pooper but don't light the fireworks yet. A most frustrating aspect of this problem is false dawns, hopes raised, dashed, raised and dashed again.
but who knows... if all's well tomorrow/next week do come back and update.
Have a lovely Christmas

Dec 21, 2014 12:31 PM in response to PFJ30by jennnnnifer,Yeah, I totally spoke too soon. I walked away from my computer, gleefully happy with my accomplishment, only to come back with the wifi disconnecting again >_< I will update if anything promising happens though.

Dec 23, 2014 2:54 PM in response to PFJ30by ljonesATL,This problem has been an annoyance for far too long. This goes back to mavericks for my own rMBP (late 2013 custom order). I have another rMBP(early 2013 custom order), no issues. An MBA(2013 custom order) also runs on the same network with no issues.
Deleting the network prefs works for a while but the problem eventually returns. Still searching for a solution. I purchased the Apple Care due to this issue and so far Apple has been of no help.

Dec 24, 2014 4:56 AM in response to mattormondby Joshuapotter,I can also confirm that my fix also works long term, over a week now and once connected, in the way I described (repeatedly, about 20 times, selecting my network in the drop down box despite being already connected) I stay connected. I am very conscious that different things seem to work for different people and that my setup is a little unusual in that I tether to a smart phone rather than a modem but nevertheless, like everyone else, the problem is with Yosemite and even if it just helps a few people, it will have saved a lot of frustration.

Dec 28, 2014 10:37 AM in response to Joshuapotterby jennnnnifer,Our router was originally on b/g/n.
I changed our router settings to n-only. My MacBook Pro finally stayed connected after weeks of torture, but then it stopped working for some of our older devices (wireless printer, iPhone 3).
Now I've set it to b/g-only and everyone seems happy.

Jan 4, 2015 10:53 AM in response to mattormondby nadir616,I was having the same problem. My iMac would not maintain its connection to the internet even though it was connected to the router. After trying much reading and trying many things here is what solved out problem. First of all I have a dual band Netgear wireless router. All other devices (a number of windows laptops, televisions, PS3, Wii, various smartphones) had no connection problems.
I changed the channel on my 2.5 GHz signal on my router from AUTO to channel 1. My 5 GHz was already on a fixed channel.
Problem solved. The iMac is no happily connected and does not drop connection.
I am frankly not sure what I am losing by going to the fixed channel vs Auto but for now everything is good so I would recommend other with the same issue to try this.

Jan 6, 2015 10:13 AM in response to Giuseppe.F91by jennnnnifer,The only fix that finally worked for me was changing router settings to g/b-only.

Jan 6, 2015 1:12 PM in response to jennnnniferby Giuseppe.F91,In my case deleting the SystemConfigurations was useless.
I limited the amount of allowed connection in uTorrent and installed the package jre-8u25-macosx-x64 (java), I haven't been having wifi drops since then.
Maybe uTorrent uses some Java function that are no more in the default java package on the Mac after the Yosemite upgrade, and maybe this happens with other applications too!

Jan 20, 2015 11:49 AM in response to Giuseppe.F91by Theo1958,Hi there. Quiet for some time here...
Did Apple solve the problem? I'm waiting to upgrade to Yosemite until I'm sure the problem with the WiFi is solved.
