Jan 7, 2015 8:19 AM in response to danzig2005by Limnos,If you are re-authoring to DVD (which too is a lossy format) avoid any additional stages of saving to lossy formats such as an intermediate .mp4 because there is irreversible quality loss with each conversion. Of course the files will be huge but if that's what you want then you'll need a big drive.

Jan 7, 2015 4:31 PM in response to danzig2005by Limnos,Does .mov have lossless codecs? I am familiar with it as a package for lossy codecs but don't know all the details since I rarely use it. I don't do much DVD authoring myself. Isn't .dv the uncompressed format? I don't do much with video so I can't provide expert help. I only used iMovie once and the files I was using went from 500MB mp4 to 17 GB so I am presuming they were uncompressed! I would think the best compression would be what barely fits on the DVD since the less the compression the better the quality.
