Q: Blu-Ray burning error after Final Cut Pro 10.1.2 update.

I upgraded Final Cut Pro X to 10.1.2  I can no longer burn blu-ray.  I get an error message "Either the video file or the audio file were an invalid format".  I get the same message sharing through Final Cut or through Compressor.  Please help!

I will be everyone's savior. Check your app store for an update right now. I'm about to do a test blu-ray. The announcement says they have addressed the issue.

    Official bug fix listed as:

I just burnt to blue ray a 6 minute video, no compression problems and it burnt fine.  It's looking promising that the release update of Final Cut Pro and Compressor is the fix we have been waiting for the past few months!

6 minute burns mean nothing. We need to see if it will burn longer times over 60 minutes.

We will be soon here when we get time. Hope this is the fix we were waiting for.

    I successfully burned a 1 hour 40 minute 1920x1080 PRHQ. No issues.

Burn with success a few Blu-ray without any problems at all but use the Pioneer Burners on Mac Pro Tower to avoid burning problems.

I was using LG burners two of them in this Mac Pro Tower  with Verbatim BD-RE Media and Disk Utility Crash on erase BD-RE disc.

Now i use the Pioneer BDR-2209 and all work perfectly , the burners never disappear after the Mac Wake from Sleep ,Thanks Apple.

I was able to share to blu ray (using DVD DL and super drive) and some version of FCP X 9.6.  needed to get latest version of FCP X 10.1.4 after upgrading to yosemite.  Now able to get thru 66% on sharing but unable to burn to bluray.  Have been thru most of this discussion and tried toggling the background, tried burning to hard drive.  Seems like the problem was fixed. Does anyone have any suggestions?  Thanks

Do you mean an AVCHD disc?

You cannot burn Bluray with a Mac Superdrive.

66% is where the encoding completes and FCP X hands the burning job to the Create Disc app, it happens automatically if all is well.

Thanks for the post. Not a Blu Ray disc and not AVCHD.  Ito is high definition video on a DVD-DL disc.  Has a. BDMV folder. Previously able to do it with older version of FCP which will not work on updated OS mavericks. Same problem with create disc as in the beginning of thread.  Thanks for your help.

Can you tell us more about this type of HD burning with FCP X please?

    I'm at a loss.

Sorry to confuse you. I share project Share to Blu Ray (previously used to say 'export'), used a DVD-DL (can also use DVD) and records HD video (just under 2 hours on DVD-DL). Excellent picture on HDTV and also has BDMV folder in Finder (when you double click on inserted DVD). Recorded 2 previous home videos in FCP X 9.6. Source video is AVCHD files from Sony HDR SR11 video camera. After upgrading to FCP X 10.1.4 (previous version would not work with Maverick), getting the Create Disc error after hand off (at 66% or sharing process). Thank you for your help.

I have read Al's previous posts regarding FCPX issues with the Blue Ray burn disk process hanging up at 66% complete.   I am experiencing this issue now.

I have a new Samsung Blue Ray Writer that I am using.   I just learned and created my first video in FCPX.  It is 6 min long.   I have been trying to share my project to a Blue Ray Disk but it stops at 66% at the point of create/burn disc.   I have tried to add and remove a background, title, and logo in the Blue Ray settings. It does not seem to be working.   I have also tried to share the Blue Ray to the HD but with no luck.   It still hangs up at 66% complete.   I have been able to share to iTunes home movies; so my file doesn't appear corrupt.   I have a newerMacBook Pro 13 with plenty of RAM and HD space for this project so

that's not the issue.  I'm running FCPX 10.1.4.  Is there something in my preferences that may be setup incorrectly? Any suggestions would be helpful.   Thank you very much.

I was experiencing the same exact problem as everyone else on there.  For me the problem was with the USB cord to the external burner.  I gave up trying burn a Blu-Ray, was using Roxio Toast, and was getting error messages about being intermittent.  The USB cord wasn't supplying enough power to the drive, therefore it couldn't write properly.  I was using a Samsung SE-506BB/TSBD External Slim Portable USB Blu-Ray DVD burner.  Had nothing to do with Final Cut Pro (I'm on FCP X 10.2.1).

So, did you fix the problem?

I'm having this issue with a Samsung burner..

Final Cut Pro X and Compressor - same issue.
