I think you're short on RAM, as you can see in the results, you only have 56 MB free ram at the moment of testing.

56 MB is far too less to work on your iMac, but, the good news is that you can upgrade your RAM.

For upgrading your RAM, visit iMac: How to remove or install memory - Apple Support.

I just did an 'SMC Reset' and got the following result which shows a greatly increased amount of RAM. Would I be right in thinking that there may not be a need to add more RAM?

Yosemite manages memory different from earlier versions of OS X, while more is almost always better, free ram is no longer an indicator How to use Activity Monitor - Apple Support

I suggest that you launch Activity Monitor and force quit any process that seems to be using a lot of your processor cycles. Also I'm not sure that the leapfrog application is completely updated for Yosemite, I would uninstall that and restart to test, if you determine that it isn't part of the problem you can always reinstall. Check with the developer to see if there's an update.

Also, if the CPU processes identified on the Etrecheck are a problem, what can I do about them?

You should uninstall leapfrog software and test. I would try running fewer applications at any one time. If you're not actively using iTunes, iPhoto and Word at the same time you're browsing in Firefox I would quit those apps. With only 4gb of ram you don't want to run a lot of apps at any one time.

ALso you have  WD external drive plugged in, you might disconnect that and see if things improve.
