Q: How to get visual voicemail back?

I recently updated my iphone 4 to ios7 and installed a new SIM card, and now my visual voicemail is gone.  I have the same carrier, AT&T, which provided me with visual voicemail on the same phone when it was running ios5.  How do I get visual voicemail back?  I have checked out the help pages on AT&T as well as Apple, but the instructions don't seem to apply as my phone just calls my voicemail when I tap the button.

I just "upgraded" from an iPhone4 to an iPhone5S, and I absolutely hate this "feature." It's like going back to 2005. I haven't found a workaround. I'm on Verizon, so apparently it's not a carrier issue.

Sometimes it does need the carrier to make some adjustments on their end - have you called AT&T?

Contact AT&T to have them reset your voicemail. You can also see if this helps. Get help with visual voicemail on your iPhone - Apple Support

For the second poster, DLScreative, it is not a "feature". You can contact Verizon and they will reset your voicemail.

Did I say feature? I meant annoyance. Thanks for the link.

Exactly how does visual voicemail annoy you?

Are you wanting to just dial your voicemail the old school way?

Not having visual voicemail on a brand new phone annoys me.

Having to dial my voicemail the old school way annoys me.

Sorry  DLScreative - I've been way off today.  My bad, read that totally wrong.

After calling Apple Support (very helpful!), I was transferred to AT&T support and my problem was fixed (30 min later...).  The Apple support tech first went over all of the steps listed in the above link (Get help with visual voicemail...), which I had already done before calling.  Once we went through everything, I was transferred to an AT&T rep who found out that my phone had been set up incorrectly at the AT&T store.  He reset my voicemail feature on his end, had me restart my iphone, walked me through the setup, & left me a voicemail to test it out - all fixed!  For anyone else unable to access visual voicemail, I'd suggest calling their carrier (although, for me, calling Apple first was MUCH smoother than calling AT&T directly).

Try calling Verizon.  I don't know what they're like, but when I was talking to the Apple rep, he said that he used to work for Verizon and had people with the same issue (which is why he transferred me to AT&T).

I'm glad you got it fixed. However, AT&T is used to this issue, it can happen at any time, so they are used to fixing it.

Following the steps on the link provided above resolved the issue for me without calling tech support.  Thanks again for the link ChrisJ4203.
