Jan 9, 2015 6:09 AM in response to BPurkayasstaby Lexiepex,★Helpful1. You only 1GB of RAM, which is barely enough to start the mac, let alone large apps.
2. You have the resources munching app Chrome, which alone is enough to slow to a crawl: If you do not want to use Safari, use Firefox or Opera: fast and secure and good programming (Chrome is sloppy programming and not very secure.)
3. You have crapware installed: Trusteer. Your computer is much safer without this. The bankmanager that recommends this is an idiot.
The Seagate disk software is superfluous and sometimes even counterproductive.
What to do now:
4. in SystemPreferences->Users&Accounts->LoginItems remove all entries, with the minus sign underneath.
After that restart, now you have to start apps by hand and you must quit them from the menu when not needed anymore. This will free up a lot of resources.
5. The Huawei software is badly programmed, if you do not have the stick anymore or the modem, uninstall that software.
Uninstall Trusteer Endpoint Protection /Rapport, see pt 3
Uninstall Chrome, see pt 2
Uninstall Seagate, see pt 3
Restart, empty the trash bin, now it must already run better.
6. Upgrade Ram, buy very good ram, important is that you buy exactly the right specs. Not expensive, but may be difficult to find: try OWC first.
put in 2x2GB, or 1x2GB plus 1x4GB, or 2x8GB: a maximum that will be used is 6GB, but it may be easier to find 2x4GB.
spec: specification: 200-pin PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM
Very easy to do yourself, see the instructions on OWC.

When you are not sure that there are no remnants after the uninstalls, run a new etrecheck list and post.

Jan 9, 2015 7:34 AM in response to Lexiepexby BPurkayassta,Hey Lex,
Thanks a lot for your advice and suggestions. I have uninstalled programs as you have adviced, but not sure if Rapport is completely uninstalled.
I am definitely going to look into purchasing extra RAM asap!
However, I have now one little problem. One of the site that I need to use is giving me the following error message on Firefox. This is the reason I had initially installed Chrome, coz thats where I found it to be working. The error message is as below
Validation Error
You must correct the following error(s) before proceeding:
- Failed to authenticate the SAML response. If this keeps happening, please contact the administrator.
Any fix for this?
Thank you so much for all your help and advice so far!
Cheers
Jay

Jan 9, 2015 8:24 AM in response to BPurkayasstaby Lexiepex,Hi Jay,
SAML, is that a login banksite?
If so ask the Bankservice how to "reactivate" your login credentials. If not tell me what it is.
post an etrecheck list and I will look for remnants.

Jan 9, 2015 11:17 AM in response to BPurkayasstaby Lexiepex,★HelpfulFor the time being use Chrome, until you find the alternative. Opera perhaps?
