Q: mackeeper and  other sites keeping popping up,help!

Hi,

Last week I was trying to print some items for my daughters and I kept getting a message that I had to download mplayerx to print.  Stupidly I did! I have managed to get mplayerx off my iMac but now I constantly have Mackeeper popping up and today I now have just about every ad and game site popping up on my system when I go to click on something.

I use Safari.

I am hoping someone (i.e. Linc) will be able to help me fix my Mac so this stops! I am so worried about logging into sites that require passwords etc.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

Oh my word - this is getting worse.

So I clicked Adblock plus and it brought up a site with instructions to clean things up.  It says to open finder, click on Go, click on Go To Folder and then click edit and enter the Vsearch info line by line.

I don't get it, I click on Finder and it opens up and it is on All my Files.  There is no Go or Go to folder and there is no edit button.

    I'm lost already!

And now every time I hit enter or go to click on a log in tab, weird sites keeping popping up.

    I need serious help please.

    Thanks!

Also, some things say to go into extensions and remove extensions you don't want.  There is literally nothing showing in my extensions section! So I can't remove something that doesn't even show up.

And Finder, under the lists on the left, shows Devices and says there is a remote disc?  What? How? Where?  How do I get rid of it?

I figured out the whole finder, go, go to folder thing and ran through the whole list baby boomer. There was only one thing out of all of them that had to be trashed. I hope that fixes all my problems but I would still like to know more about extensions and why there isn't a single one showing in my Extensions!

    thanks
