Jan 12, 2015 7:26 AM in response to riethulby Ralph9430,When syncing with iTunes on a computer only selected items will sync to an iOS device. I'm not exactly sure what your problem might be and it can be frustrating when things don't go as expected. But let's consider the simple things first.
All content, in my opinion, that is stored on an iPhone should also be backed up or stored on your computer. This includes all your music whether purchased via iTunes or not. Put all music content in iTunes on the computer and crete the playlists you want. Then, when syncing with your iPhone select to Sync All Music or choose to sync only Selected Playlists. If you choose to select only certain playlists make your selections in the lists of your playlists. Then click on Apply or Sync.
The next time you sync, if you want to keep the previously synced playlists to your iPhone you must keep them selected. Deselecting them and clicking on Apply will remove the deselected items from your iPhone.
If these comments did not help your situation please explain in detail exactly what steps you are following to sync and exactly what happens.

Jan 12, 2015 7:33 AM in response to KiltedTimby riethul,Yes, I use iTunes Match. You're right, it doesn't. It's as though iTunes only leaves the music I bought from THEM alone.
