Jan 12, 2015 12:13 PM in response to toqueby keg55,If your OS X Mavericks Time Machine back up was made locally (e.g. USB drive plugged into your Mac) then you can boot from it and it should take you to the OS X Utilities Menu where you can select to Reinstall OS X. Another option would be to find another Mac running OS X Mavericks, download and install the OS X Recovery Disk Assistant on that Mac and using a 4GB thumb drive, run the utility which will install a Recovery HD of the current OS to it. Then restart your Mac with the thumb drive and press the Option key to select the thumb drive. This will boot into the OS X Utilities Menu for you to Reinstall OS X.
