Just bought Macbook Air for Xmas.  First Mac!  Trying to get Canon MX340 wireless printer working.  Mac will not recognize printer even though PC's are able to print just fine wirelessly (ie...wirfeless capability is functioning properly)....System Preferences-> Printers & Scanners-> "+" = NOTHING available to select? Tried to download Canon drivers...no luck?  Have read many posts and Apple support document, but can't figure this out.  Help please!!

Try connecting the MX340 to the Mac via USB cable. This should result in the supporting driver being downloaded and the printer being created in Printers & Scanners. If so, then check that this will print.

If this works, then turn off the MX, disconnect the USB cable and turn back on to reconnect to the wireless router. Then open Printers & Scanners on the Mac and select to add. If the Default add printer window appears, wait for several seconds. The scanner component that uses Bonjour to advertise can appear quickly while the printer component that uses a Canon protoocol can take several seconds to appear.

Thanks PAHU!  Took a while to locate the USB cable.  After connecting MX340 to MAC, a MX340 driver was not available?  Now, how do I find and install the driver.  I have already downloaded the driver (or whtat I think is the driver).  Logically, I should be able to go...system preferences->P&S->"+"->Other->Downloads-> New MAC/Canon Driver.  However, the downloaded driver is not available for selecting?  What am I doing wrong?

Now that you have the driver installed and working, you can turn off the power to the MX340 and disconnect the USB cable. Then turn the power back on and allow the MX some time to reconnect to your wireless router. A minute should be fine. Then on the Mac, open Printers & Scanners and click the plus button to add. A small window may appear with a heading of Nearby Printers and the MX may be shown. If not, the Default printer window will appear and the MX should be listed - once showing Bonjour Scanner and after several seconds another entry should appear showing canonijnetwork in the Kind column. Does this happen?

You just need to set up your printer with your password for wifi and you should be good to go

    Hi,

I know it has been quite a long time since your response but I hope you are able to help me with a similar concern.

Having followed your instructions I have been able to install and use the printer via wifi. Unfortunately I am still not able to install the scanner so that it appears as it does for when the USB cable is used. The Navigator EX app is able to work without that but neither Image Capture and therefore nor other external programs seem to find the scanner without it being installed additionally. Do you have any idea on that? I would greatly appreciate any ideas. Thanks in advance!

I've been using my cannon MX340 Wifi for years without a hight.  Recently, out of nowhere the Wireless MX340 stopped working on my brand new Mac powerbook, my old Mac powerbook, and my girlfriend's mac notebook.  After struggling for an hour I booted up my 10 PC Windows XP, installed the Cannon Drivers and it worked flawlessly.  W.. t ..f  App
