Q: I can't install Mountain Lion on 2008 mac pro
Hi everyone,
A friend of mine have me his 2008 Mac pro, which still works well, but I can't install Mavericks or even Mountain Lion on it.
It has a Quad Core Intel Xeon 64 bit processor, 4 GB of memory, 250 GB HD with two additional 500GB HDs.
When I received it, came with Snow Leopeard and I was able to upgrade it to Lion through the App store, however when I try to upgrade it Mountain Lion or Mavericks, I get the error message from the App Store: "
I'm pretty confused as to why this is happening, since Im not given any other information as to why it wouldn't install.
Please Help!

Check the hardware model number in About This Mac from the Apple menu. If it's
MacPro1,1 (2006) or
MacPro2,1 (2007)
you can't run 10.8.
If it's MacPro3,1 (2008) you should be able to.
