Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it sounds like you have an iTunes store error. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

Thanks for replying. I'd seen this when I googled the problem but it looked a bit technical for me but I'll give it a whirl and see how far I get. Cannot connect to iTunes store either so it's definitely connected.
