I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on a couple things about your current configuration. When you moved from your old Mac to your new Mac, did you do a migration of your data? I ask because all the things you mention having moved over (Contacts, Calendars, Safari Bookmarks, and iTunes content) can be synced via iCloud or the iTunes Store. If you didn't do a migration, you may find the following articles helpful for either a general or manual migration:
Move your data to a new Mac - Apple Support
OS X: Manually migrating data from another Mac - Apple Support
You may also be able to export or transfer data from specific applications, such as is noted in these articles:
Mail (Yosemite): Import or export mailboxes
Syncing Notes on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support (regarding Notes in local folders)

Thank you for your response. When I moved over to the new iMac I did not do a migration. I had been having problems with the old iMac, which my local Apple store, after a series of tests, determined to be a software issue. Therefore I did not want bring it over to the new iMac. I have been reinstalling new copies of my non-Apple applications from there original sources and retrieving, only absolutely necessary (i.e. photos and financial info), data from a, Time Machine backed up, external hard drive, folder by folder.
I read the articles that you suggested and found them informative and helpful. In particular the one regarding mailboxes.
Mail (Yosemite): Import or export mailboxes
For my own peace of mind, I called Apple support and with their assistance, walking me through the process, I was able to retrieve the missing Mailboxes. Since I had hooked up my external hard drive to the new iMac and backed it up, I was not able to access the backup data from the old iMac via Time Machine. It would not go back beyond the date of the first backup of the new one, even though the data was there on the hard drive. I double clicked the external hard drive icon on the Desktop to open it and was able to obtain the missing files that way using "Import Mailboxes..." from the File menu in the Mail app.
Thanks again for your reply and assistance,
carlodzf
