Welcome to the Support Communities! The Console application is found in the Utilities folder on your Mac. Do you have your computer backed up with Time Machine? If so, you may be able to go back to an earlier date when the iCal application was working.
OS X Yosemite: Restore items backed up with Time Machine
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH18837If you use Time Machine to back up your Mac, you can easily get back lost items or recover older versions of files.
Open a window for the item you want to restore;
For example, to recover a file you accidentally deleted from your Documents folder, open the Documents folder. To recover an email message, open your inbox in Mail.
Use the arrows and timeline to browse the local snapshots and backups.
If you see a pulsing light to semi-dark gray tick mark, it represents a backup that’s still loading or validating on the backup disk.
Select one or more items you want to restore (these can include folders or your entire disk), then click Restore.
Restored items return to their original location. For example, if an item was in the Documents folder, it’s returned to the Documents folder.
With many apps you can use Time Machine within individual documents so you can examine and read past versions to find the version you want. For more information, see View and restore past versions of documents.

Jan 15, 2015 11:31 AM in response to judysingsby fancy2270,Thanks for the help. The console just says "Error occurred while saving" but no hint of the cause. Unfortunately my last time machine back up was a while ago. The good news is the full calendar is visible on my iPad. So how to I get it back to my computer? Thanks again.

Jan 18, 2015 7:32 AM in response to fancy2270by fancy2270,As if by magic my calendar appears in Accounts and the entries are on my computer. The last Time Machine back up was in September so I did it again yesterday. Now all the calendar entries appear, including one I just made yesterday in my iPad and others made since September.

Jan 19, 2015 11:11 AM in response to fancy2270by judysings,Hi fancy2270,
Glad to hear your calendar is now appearing on your Mac and you were able to do a new Time Machine backup. I noticed you are still using OS X Lion. Have you considered updating to OS X Yosemite? It does help to keep all of the software up to date on your devices.
