Q: Can't delete songs on iphone 6 plus

I delete the songs from itunes but they are still on my iphone with cable attached.  Why are the songs not deleting from iphone?  The itunes shows nothing but the U2 stuff when my phone is selected.

    Hi Thunderman69,

I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on exactly what you are seeing, and where you are seeing it (in iTunes, on the iPhone directly, etc). For example, if you are seeing songs in Music on your iPhone, but they have a cloud and arrow icon next to them, that means that it was a song from the iTunes Store that can be directly streamed/downloaded to the phone via iTunes in the Cloud/iTunes Match, as noted in the following article:

iTunes Match on iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Also, if you have removed a song from iTunes on your computer, you may have to sync iTunes to your iPhone to apply that change:

    Regards,

    - Brenden

It finally cleared, huge delay to clear my iphone.

How do I clear seeing songs I bought on itunes from appearing on iphone?  Like the U2 stuff?  I don't want to delete from itunes on desktop only on seeing them on phone.

    Thanks

    Hi Thunderman69,

You should be able to hide your iTunes Store purchases, though you would need to do so from your computer:

For the U2 album specifically, you may also find this article helpful:

I just acquired an iPhone 6 plus.  I learned that I had that U2 album on my song list, along with one other song (that had the iCloud symbol just to the right of the song).  I deleted that goofy U2 album, via icloud.  The other one took me a little while to figure it out, but here is what I did.

I downloaded the one song by tapping on the iCloud symbol on the right hand side.  As soon as it was downloaded, I went into Settings/Music and turned off the "Show All Music" button.  When I did that, I returned to the "Music" folder and saw that the iCloud symbol was not longer showing on the right hand side. I was able to swipe the song title to the left and the "delete" box appeared.  I then tapped the "delete" box and it deleted the song.

if they are showing as grey in iTunes most likely they are corrupt on the iPhone, try unsyncing all your music from the iPhone to see if they dissapear from the 'on my iPhone' category and if they do try re-syncing them

I have a similar problem on my iPhone 6 IOS 8.XX (Latest IOS). I can't remove a few songs on my iPhone. I already tried deleting the entire Music Data and also syncing up with iTunes. It will only delete the songs I downloaded but it won't delete songs I listen on my iCloud. In theory, it should NOT cache any songs if I don't download them. If I disable "Show All" under Music Settings, it should not show any music if I deleted everything. Right? Well, not my case. My iPhone just keeps them. Then I tried "swiping" to delete and nothing. I can swipe other song to delete them. However, my phone has a weird way of keeping songs. The only resource will be to reset it but I don't want to lose all my settings.

Same here. I can't delete all songs from iphone 6 plus. A few can't be selected for individual deletion, I go to setting and edit to delete all music and those songs still are not gone. I tried syncing with itunes and deleteing all songs on my device and the same songs stay on the phone even though the itunes listis empty. I've made sure that phone and itunes is up to date.

Bumping this post/thread; I'm having the same issue. Been searching all over the forums for a fix and I couldn't find anything. Anyone experiencing similar difficulties or know of a fix?

I can't believe more people aren't affected or care about this issue? This is ridiculous! Why are "certain" songs undeletable?

Someone posted a fix to this on another forum. I would link to that forum, however it's been a while so I don't remember how I found it. I'm going off of memory as to why we aren't allowed to delete these songs, so please forgive me if my explanation is wrong. These songs were streamed from iCloud and never actually downloaded onto the device. So these songs are stored in some sort of iCloud cache somewhere. Well, there's no real way to clear iClouds cache, so there's not luck there (aka why we can't delete these songs). However, someone found a fix. If I remember correctly, go and actually download whatever song is giving you the trouble, and then try deleting it.

I had same issue. I lent my phone out to the DJ at high school dance and got lots of unwanted songs on the device itself.

I think I found a method. I hope this helps cuz it drove me nuts!!!

On the device (iPad or iPhone) select the unwanted song. Tap the song so that the option to play is shown. Tap the song name. It will begin to play. At the bottom of the screen tap on the 3 little red dots. A pop up appears with "Start Station, Show in iTunes Store, Share Artist..., Share Song..., Add to a Playlist..., Delete" Tap Delete. A second popup appears to confirm the action of "Delete Purchase". Tap "Delete Purchase"

You can see in last pic that I deleted all songs with artists starting with letter A and that now the first song is by an artist starting with letter B.

    See photos below-
