Q: apple loops issue

I recently updated to a new Macbook pro (OS X 10.9.5) from a 2007 imac running OS X 10.6.8.

I'm using Logic Pro 9, and have done for the last few years. Now that I have installed Logic 9 into my new mac, downloaded additional content, and moved all the memory intensive content to an external hard drive, I find that a few things look a bit different:

Channel strips settings are structured differently. For example I no longer see Jam Pack Symphony Orchestra sounds , but I have to access them through 'Shared Garageband settings on my Mac'. Is there any reason for this. Can I retrieve my old layout? I just knew where everything was.........

Perhaps more importantly, I notice that Apple loops now incorporate the following categories:

01 Hip Hop

02 Electro House

03 Dubstep

04 Modern RnB

05 Tech House

06 Deep House

07 Chillwave

Trouble is, that while all of the loops exist in .caf form on my hard drive, more than half of them don't play. The ones that don't play have no content, showing a negligible size (eg 8KB) as opposed to the ones which do play, which tend to be above 200Kb. An examination of the wave form of these non playing files show that nothing is there!

Does anyone know what has gone wrong, and/or whether I can get the missing files from anywhere?

I also have no idea where these have come from in my migration from one computer/operating system to another....... :?

If anyone could help I would much appreciate it.
