Swipe up from the bottom on the screen to get to Control Centre...

The button on the right is the Rotation lock... Turn it off.

Top of my screen reads Control Center

I see no "button on the right."

I see "Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to view Control Center" even though supposedly I already am in the Control Center.

Swiping up reveals nothing below "Access Within Apps."    (see also #2 below)

    Only two selections available:

    1.  Access on Lock Screen

    2.  Access Within Apps

Changing either one does jack as far as allowing the landscape orientation.

You are not in Control Centre, you are in Settings for the Control Centre.  You have to swipe up from off the bottom of the screen.

Wow. If that isn't just the most gobbledygook I've read in awhile.  Typical Apple though.

By the way,  I've swiped down, up, north, south, east, west on every screen vaguely related to this topic, including of course the one you suggested, and, well, need I say more.

By the way Part Two...this is my third generation iPhone so let's not go that route.

There is nobody here from Apple, typical or otherwise.

I'll try to use simpler words.

Put your finger tip to one side or the other of the Home button (the pushy thing below the screen display area).  Your fingertip is now "off the bottom of the screen". Swipe upward. Your fingertip should drag the Control Centre up from the bottom of the screen.

Or you could read page 30 of the comprehensive (big)  User Guide

My Iphone 5c still won't rotate to landscape, portrait orientation lock is off and buttons on the side do control volume.

    Any help would be appreciated.

What app are you using and trying to use landscape mode?

Open up the Calendar app.  See if that rotates.

Also, open up the Compass app and go to the Level, and see if the level adjusts when you rotate the iPhone.

Calendar app did switch to landscape but now is locked in that mode, won't switch to portrait.  All other apps locked in portrait.  Downloaded compass app, doesn't rotate is not oriented properly, i.e. it is now pointing north (based on yellow arrow) but states W @ 275 degrees.  Something is clearly not right with this device just purchased last week.

So make a Genius bar appt at the nearest Apple Store.

Back it up, restore it as new and test again.  You shouldn't have had to download a compass app.  There's a built-in Compass app on the iPhone.

Try and do a hard reset by holding the power and home screen button at the same time until the phone reboots. Do this every now and again to help the phone run better overall. This is what fixed mine when it was having similar issues.
