Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that your Mac will not boot. Here are some troubleshooting steps that I would recommend going through for this.
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck

Mac OS X: Gray screen appears during startup

Aug 31, 2016 2:53 PM in response to jsm59by userremoved,★HelpfulIf this is happening to you, that means some of the files on the Macintosh are corrupted. I recommend you starting up Internet Recovery.
To do this, you must shut off your computer. After you have done that, press the power button then hold Command+Option+R and wait till the Globe comes up. This will take you to the Reinstallation/Recovery. Now, if you want to erase the whole hard drive, Go into Disk Utility and then start the Installation process. If you just want to reinstall OSX, then just hit reinstall OSX. This will get you to your Pre-Installed OSX. Like for example mine is on Yosemite. But originally, mine is Mavericks Pre-Installed. So here you go. Hope it works.
On one note, I am 12.
