Jan 3, 2015 11:11 AM in response to Andrew Wolczykby Shiny Apples,If you ever backed up or copied the Install OS X Mavericks.app that was previously downloaded you can use that to install on all your MACs. Always Copy to another location apps you download to back them up before installing.
I myself have downloaded Mavericks previously so it shows up in my App Store and when attempting to re-download it I get an "Error 1004 please try again later." & "We could not complete your request. There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (13)". I did this to test the option and it fails we were all under the impression that we would be able to download and install our purchased apps any time. I luckily have backed up my Mavericks to another drive and made it USB bootable following the Macworld instructions:
http://www.macworld.com/article/2056561/how-to-make-a-bootable-mavericks-install -drive.html
they cleaned up the instructions in the Yosemite section:
Another option is to have the Retail Store re-install Mavericks if you can get to one, lugging your MAC. (They will not give you a copy, but might have a solution for businesses in the Business support.)
If you need older versions of OS X, they can still be purchased in the Apple Online Store:
http://store.apple.com/us/help/downloadable_software#MacOSX
- Snow Leopard (10.6)
- Lion (10.7)
- Mountain Lion (10.8)
- Mavericks (10.9). Learn how to upgrade to OS X Mavericks. ( <<-- The Mavericks Link now links to YOSEMITE. They need to update their links.)
You can apparently still get the Server Editions:
Purchasing one of the OS X Servers...
http://www.apple.com/osx/server/
http://www.apple.com/osx/server/how-to-upgrade/
The Following OS X Servers are still available from the App Store here are the direct links...
OS X Server 4.0 Yosemite 10.10
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/os-x-server/id883878097?mt=12
OS X Server 3.2.2 Mavericks 10.9.5
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/os-x-server/id714547929?mt=12
OS X Server 2.2.5 Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.5
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/os-x-server/id537441259?mt=12
Lion's OS X Server is not Available: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/os-x-lion-server/id444376097?mt=12
All older Versions were on DVD/CD.
I am still waiting on Apple support for the non-server versions. Here are the broken direct links:
OS X Lion 10.7 https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/id444303913?mt=12
OS X Mountain Lion 10.8 https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/id537386512?mt=12
OS X Mavericks 10.9 https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/id675248567?mt=12
Currently working, OS X Yosemite 10.10 https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/id675248567?mt=12
Someone the other day mentioned you can buy Mavericks from the Apple Store and get a Redeem Code. But I have not been able to confirm this yet, I am still waiting on Support and why would one pay for a Free OS... It sounds like a Server Edition to me. I do not see anywhere that they now charge for the non-server versions.

Re: Mavericks download Links Brokenin response to Shiny ApplesFolks have reported most recently that they were able to buy OS X Mavericks by calling the Apple Store. It cost them $20 like all of the previous versions of OS X and they had to wait 3 business days for a redemption code to download it from the Mac App Store.
I also thought I would mention the issue with Third Party SSD and Yosemite:
http://www.macworld.com/article/2849366/mac-wont-boot-about-yosemite-and-your-th ird-party-ssd.html
For those that have issues with Flash Drives you need to format them first. Apple can not write to NTFS by default.
If your MAC came with Mavericks you can create your bootable install drive from the recovery partition:

Jan 13, 2015 9:29 PM in response to Shiny Applesby Baka no Kami,Mavericks appears to still be available through internet recovery mode.
Had a Mac (previously upgraded to Yosemite) that was having some issues. Normally we reinstall from a 10.9.1 Mavericks USB stick (because I've been really lazy about updating it), but the Mac wouldn't boot from it. Eventually I tried internet recovery (Command + Option + R) and the reinstall OS X option in it still downloads Mavericks. It wouldn't install until I erased the hard drive to get rid of Yosemite.
Also, when I still have the option to download the Mavericks install from the app store. I don't think I ever 'bought' Yosemite under my ID, so maybe that's the problem. Once you buy Yosemite the app store only lets you download that.

I have "purchased" Yosemite and the app store still shows Lion, Mountain Lion, and Mavericks as available. And, I just redownloaded Mountain Lion, Mavericks, and Yosemite full installers just to have them available if I need them.
And yes, Internet Recovery (Command + Option + R) will install the OS version originally installed, but the hard drive needs to be erased. Regular Recovery (command + R) will reinstall the currently installed OS version.
Mavericks appears to still be available through internet recovery mode.
It will only be available if a) your Mac came with it originally or b) you have previously downloaded/purchased it. In both cases, it will show in the Purchases section.

Jan 20, 2015 12:30 PM in response to babowaby Mr. Spock, babowa, do you have a link for the Mavericks installer that is still available through the App Store? I am desperate for a copy. I have an old Mac (10.7.5) and a new one (Yosemite) but I *need* Mavericks to update projects in RapidWeaver. I have no other option. A link to the installer would be most appreciated.

Jan 20, 2015 12:46 PM in response to Mr. Spockby baltwo,Doesn't exist, unless you previously DL'd the installer before Apple deleted it for the masses, who they think don't want anything but Yosemite.

Jan 20, 2015 12:57 PM in response to Mr. Spockby babowa,Already answered, but I'll quote my own post above:

Other than that, it's not available.

Jan 20, 2015 1:19 PM in response to babowaby MaryL42,Hi babowa,
FYI: With your post in mind, I went to my Purchases in the App store & saw that while Mavericks was downloaded (I am running on it now), the button was greyed out and non-responsive, so I couldn't download again.
Not sure why, but that's what I got.

Jan 20, 2015 1:19 PM in response to Mr. Spockby babowa,Sorry..... you could try calling them to see if they'd make it available and/or stop at your nearest Genius Bar and plead your case.....

Jan 20, 2015 1:36 PM in response to Steve M.by Mr. Spock,Actually I just discovered that I had made a bootable Mavericks installer on a USB drive some time ago when I was upgrading a Macbook from Snow Leopard to Mavericks. So this installer will probably not have the latest version of Mavericks on it.
Also can I use this USB installer to do an upgrade install of Mavericks over Snow Leopard and not a "clean install"?
Did the upgrade install work for you?

Jan 20, 2015 2:00 PM in response to MaryL42by Kurt Lang,Various users have been seeing this problem. I just now clicked the Download button by Mavericks in my App Store account, and it started download after a couple of seconds. So it's still there for users who "purchased" it when it was available.
JohnnyAlpha noted earlier in this topic all he had to do was logout of the App Store, and then log back in. After that, he had no trouble downloading Mavericks from his account. Give it a try.

Jan 20, 2015 4:08 PM in response to Mr. Spockby Steve M.,Yes, the upgrade install of Mavericks over Snow Leopard worked fine using the installer on the USB drive. Then I was easily able to update to the most current version of Mavericks.

Jan 20, 2015 4:10 PM in response to Mr. Spockby Steve M.,As someone else just suggested, I would seriously go to an Apple Store and face to face ask the highest up Genius you can find how you can get Mavericks. After all, Mavericks was FREE at one time!

Jan 20, 2015 9:53 PM in response to Steve M.by Mr. Spock,I am going to have to do that (go to an Apple Store) - I have never previously downloaded it from the App or the Mac Store and have never had a Mavericks computer. Although I am not even sure they will be able to help me. Yesterday I asked an old friend who now works right at the Mothership in Cupertino (although he is in iOS Quality Control) if there is a way to get it and he said it has only ever been available at the Mac Store so he can't help me. I'll visit my local stores though, to see what they have to say.

Jan 20, 2015 10:03 PM in response to Mr. Spockby babowa,They do have the capability because they can restore systems; however, I don't know what the company policy dictates - asking won't hurt. You might want to try that you need that version for certain software which is not compatible with Yosemite. If they do agree to do it, make sure it's downloaded using your own Apple ID and password.
