Q: 2 days new MBP / Partition error & Filevault freeze

Hi all,

I just get a brand new MBP. Unfortunately I can't create a new partition (from Boot camp or Disk Utility)

It seems that the problem is due to the activation of FileVault (which is always asking me to plug the book in order to finish encryption... but when i plug it .. nothing change)

My question is :

May I will have trouble if I reformat the disk entirely (no precious data on it) ?

I want to do it without any risk of crashing definitely the disk.. ( core storage story blablabla ..)

I saw many topics with people trying to play with partition (in order to save or erase or modify ..) no success.

- I tried to do a re install from the cmd + R

-> No change

I just want to have again this yosemite "setup" that you have when you open the box from apple...

I hope my question is clear.

Thx

The FV2 conversion can take a bit of time. The status says

    Conversion Progress:   Paused

There is a thread with a similar issue FileVault stuck on "Encryption Paused" which has the following

restarting my mac book pro ssd 500gb

    reset pram with option+cmd+p+r

booting with cmd+r the utility disc (i've macintosh hd and one partition encrypted (the one with encoding paused)) >select the partition encrypted>click file and unlock>repair the partition disk>repair permission on partition>repair macintosh hd

    restar

the encryption was resumed, after almost 9 hour the encryption ended.

Was FV2 manually enabled in Security and Privacy? My suggestion is to leave ti off, re-install OS X, install Windows and then encrypt. If CoreStorage and FV2 both are used, it may take a long time to get the drive encrypted.

I turn it on when I first start my MBP... what a mistake..

Bootable usb drive is on construction now.

For sure if I have again this setup menu of yosemite I will not turn FV on...

I also try to just re install OS X but ... still the same problem.

    Let's try with a clean install ..
