Q: If my iPod 5 screen is cracked does it make it so I cant swipe my screen anymore?

Ive cracked my screen and then out of no where it stopped working, I went to a store and they said its just that is the screen if is cracked it wouldn't work after some time.

iPod touch, iOS 8.1.2

It does not necessarily mean that you can't swipe the screen unless the glass has potential to cut your finger, I wouldn't recommend swiping then, but you should be fine in terms of swiping. Cracks don't typically affect it.

Sometimes a cracked screen damages the touch-screen sensor with is part of the screen. That damage prevent touch from working. Sometines it only effects part of the screen
