Apr 14, 2015 6:23 PM in response to sakurasunshineby coles.keeter,Not sure if this is still an issue with your ipod, but for anyone else who is having the same issue, I had the same thing happen to my 6th gen nano. After reading some posts about the ipod not recognizing your headphones as being plugged in, I saw some posts saying that they had used a needle to clean out the headphone jack of the dust and stuff that inevitably gets in there. I took a small ball pump that I use to pump up my basketball and put the needle into the headphone jack and shot air into it about a dozen times. I then continued to play around with the pump needle to try and force out any dust and stuff. Sure enough after about two minutes of doing all that the ipod was back to functioning normally!!
This literally just happened just before I made this post, so I'm not sure of the longevity of this remedy, but at least its serves as a quick fix for any others experiencing the same issue!
