Q: My airport extreme has a fast blinking yellow light, but is connected to internet.

My airport extreme has a fast blinking yellow light. I am connected to the internet. I have no updates in the airport utility and it shows my base station with a green light. Does anyone know iff this is a problem to be concerned with?

The only time that you should see a fast blinking amber light is during a Hard Reset or Factory Default Reset of the AirPort Extreme.  After the reset button has been held down for 8-10 seconds during a reset, the AirPort should begin to slowly blink amber.....about once a second.

Once the AirPort Extreme has been set up and configured with settings to work with your modem, the AirPort should display a solid, green light.

Something is wrong somewhere if the light is blinking amber quickly.

We are going to need more information if you want to troubleshoot this issue.....things like.....

The model number of the AirPort Extreme

The approximate age of the AirPort Extreme

The make and model number of your modem

The operating system that you are using on your iMac

Post back with that info when you can.
