Q: cannot use bluetooth with my new nissan altima since I updated to 8.0.2.  I am very disappointed is there a fix for this?

A Month ago I purchased a new Altima and I was able to connect with my iPhone to the car and take and answer calls.  Since the update I can no longer use my bluetooth to answer, make or hear calls on my car. 

 

My car also uses Nissan connect.  I was able to use it just fine with the previous iphone OS versions.  My husband has the same iPhone that I have and it works perfectly on the car.  He hasn't upgraded it to 8.01 nor 8.02.  He is on version 7.1.2

 

I hope Apple can address this.  Or maybe there is a way to undo the updates and go back to 7.1.2 on my phone.  We both have iphones 4s 32 gb.  I will address this with Nissan as well and its syste on the altima (2014 nissan connect).

 

Has anyone else encountered this problem and found a solution.  I tried restarting the car and the phones.  I tried erasing the phone from the car and re-installing it.

 

Well if anyone gets a solution, please let me know.   Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this.

    You may need to delete the pairing and Reset the iPhone, also turn it off and on.  Try to delete any old profile from the vehicle and try again. It is also believe that the next release of iOS software will have some fixes for Bluetooth.

    If you do a search of the forum, there are a number of people reporting issues with connecting Bluetooth. Generally, this is from the update to the Bluetooth settings.

    Downgrading of iOS is not supported by Apple, so you cannot do that.

    If you go back to the car again, remove the phones from the vehicle. After that, turn the vehicle off. Then go to the iPhone, remove the vehicle from the Bluetooth listing. After that, turn Bluetooth off. Then go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. After that, to back to the vehicle and put into discovery/pairing mode. After that, turn Bluetooth on for the phone. It should see the vehicle and connect. If not, the last setting to reset would be Reset All Settings.

    It looks like this thread ended in October, 2014.

     

    My wife and I are new to Apple and smartphones and we bought 2 new iPhone 6 smartphones about 2 weeks ago (January 2015).

     

    Today we took delivery of a new Nissan Altima. The sales person attempted to connect our phones via bluetooth, and both phones failed to connect.

     

    I don't know technical stuff about iPhones, but since oursare brand new, I assume they have the latest IOS version. BTW, how do I tell the IOS version?

     

    Anyone else have a fix or workaround for this problem?

    iOS version information is found in the Settings app, General>About>Version. The latest iOS version is 8.1.2.

     

    As you have already read, there can be difficulties with pairing with vehicles. Sometimes it is the phone, sometimes it is the vehicle. Since they were unable to pair either of the devices to the car, I would suspect it could be the vehicle's problem. What did the sales person say? Did they check with Service to see if they had any updates available for the car's system? You might want to wait and see if anyone who owns an Altima comes in here and can verify if they work on their vehicle, but Nissan should assist you.

     

    When you say they failed to connect, was the phone recognized by the car? Was the car recognized by the phone? Was it just that they would not complete the pairing?

    Thank you for replying Chris.

     

    We attempted to connect by selecting bluetooth and clicking on "My Car". Once we clicked we saw the spinning circle indicating an attempt was being made to Pair (? - right term?) the two,my phone and bluetooth. The same happened for my wife's phone.

     

    My IOS version is 8.1.2,

     

    The Nissan salesman was in my car trying to get us connected. At one point in his research he showed me a web page - on his iPhone - that depicted the iPhones supported. The listing went up to iPhone 5S (not sure of the 'S') and stopped there. So he said it looks like the iPhone 6 is not yet supported.

     

    I will try to find out the web site from him today and re-post if/once I get it.

     

    Frustrating.

    It seemed for some reason, despite the auto manufactures getting the latest iOS betas, they were not prepared for the rollout of the new iOS and phones. Many vehicles owners were having difficulty in getting Bluetooth to work in their cars. However, it seems the manufacturers are beginning to come around with updates to their software to support the most updated Bluetooth. Good luck.

    Nissan does not show the iPhone 6 on their list of supported bluetooth devices. One has to hope it's just a matter of time.

    The Nissan salesman was not aware of this until after he couldn't get ours working (1-23-2015). Ours is an Altima, 2015, no navigation system.

    A brief visit to my Nissan dealer yesterday, and an appointment with their most knowledgeable bluetooth service guy led to a fix.

     

    It now works and I am thankful to Nissan. The guy was super and just went through the whole pairing process in detail and slowly and lo and behold, it successfully paired and I was in business.

     

    I really love the way the phone works using bluetooth in my new Nissan Altima.

    Hi Josie. My wife and I just got 2 iPhone 6pluses. My phone connected immediately with my Ford Escape. My wife's phone did not connect. I called my dealer and was told it is "an Apple problem." I contacted Apple and was told  this happened to some Nissan products, including my wife's Altima. Apple informed me that several Nissan products cannot support anything over IOS 8.1. Our phones are OS 8.4. As of now, there is no solution on the horizon. Apple said Nissan has to solve the problem. They know of no update coming in the near future. They also said their platforms are sent to  their users. i.e.. nissan to see if there are any problems. Obviously nissan dropped the ball.

    Along with most of the other Motor manufacturers ,world wide

    If you haven't tried any Software troubleshooting

    Try ,in Order<

    Reset ,

    Restore ,first as new and test to see if the iPhone is connecting

    if it works then add your backup .If that then causes an issue your backup contains a corruption and you will have to set as new and rebuild

    If you have been updating over the air rather than via iTunes then that may have corrupted the installation aas  an iTunes update installs a full fresh iOS installation rather than a patch
