Q: Connect MacBook6,1 to BOSE home theater via HDMI?

Hi all.

Is this possible?

I'd like to test this computer for use as a media player, connected to a BOSE 525 home theater system.

I've tried to connect it via a HDMI cable + an adapter (DVI?), but this doesn't work.

Any suggestions?

iMac (27-inch, Late 2012), OS X Mavericks (10.9), Power Mac G5 (Dual 1.8), old iMac,, iPod touch, iP

DVI doesn't carry audio.  And unfortunately your MacBook is too old to carry audio over mini-Displayport which would allow a mini-Displayport to HDMI connector to carry audio.  Neither the Bose support Bluetooth which would allow audio through a third path.  Your only option would be through your headphone port, which does as a mini-Toslink port or line-out stereo audio.       Note, if the Bose does not do amplification, you'll want to hook through MacBook through an amplifier, as looking at its specs it says nothing about digital audio ports which would allow the mini-Toslink to be used as a digital cable.
