Hello, please make a back-up and then perform this Terminal command:

    /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchSe rvices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -seed

That is: open the application Terminal and copy paste the line above after the $-sign. Press the return key.

After the command is done, restart your computer. Is your issue solved?

Just a note:  Such a long Terminal command cannot be copied and pasted without Linc Davis's magic sauce.

That command should all go into one line, without a line break or space in LaunchServices.framework

It is easier to split it into two lines, to prevent the forum software to mess up the command with extra spaces: First change to the directory, then run the command with the shorter pathname:

    cd /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks

    LaunchServices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -seed

I noticed I couldn't get the command as single line. Thanks for the fix.

Thank you so much, worked a treat and all resolved.

The command line worked after the $ with a copy and paste.

    Once again great job.

It is really hard to post Terminal commands, because the silly forum software does not recognize shell commands and  will insert line breaks at the most dangerous places
