Q: iphone 4 cdma Verizon cannot activate

Hi - I just switched my Verizon iPhone 4 (CDMA) to a Verizon iPhone 6.  I have been talking to Verizon for almost 2 hours as we attempted to switch my old iPhone 4 to another line that my son uses.  The iPhone 4 keeps coming up with the message "no SIM card installed."  There is no SIM card on a Verizon iPhone 4 (CDMA).  Verizon was stumped and suggested i get in touch with Apple support.  I thought I would try the community first to see if anyone has any ideas>  Remember, this was a 100% functional iPhone 4, my old iPhone that was deactivated when I upgraded to my iPhone 6.  Now all I am trying to do is to activate this old iPhone on a number that has been in use for many years.  ANy thoughts?  We have reset the phone but it keeps coming up with that no SIM card message.  Thanks.

    Hi rosindabow,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it sounds like the iPhone is giving you a no sim message. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

If you see 'No SIM' alert on iPhone - Apple Support

    Cheers,

    Mario

    Hi Mario,

This unfortunately does not help at all. My Verizon phone has no SIM card - it never did - it isn't supposed to have a SIM card - it is a cdma phone from Verizon- and yet I am still getting this message.  I am going to bring it into the Genius Bar - though this seems to be a hard one.  Thanks for the attempt.

    Hi

You are correct the 4 did not have a SIM card - one of the options for you is for Verizon to give you another phone or rebuild your account from scratch. The 6 does have a SIM card in it but again you are correct - it works differently in a CDMA phone.

If you have already done a restore - not much else you can try on your end

Verizon needs to put its stuff together to get your phone working
