Q: How to disable iCloud storage of iBooks on iPad

Hi Guys -

Searched through the forums but couldn't find an answer. I travel quite a bit, and often I'll download a book on my iPad from the iBooks store to read on the plane. I'll go to open the book while in air (only reason it matters is because there is no data connection) and there is an iCloud icon in the top right of the book and I can't read it because I'm not connected to WiFi. I have disabled "sync collections" on the iBooks settings tab

This seems to be pretty random, sometimes the books are available on my iPad and sometimes randomly they are not. Essentialy I just want to force iBooks to store the books locally on the iPad. Let me know!

Thanks

iPad Air, iOS 8.1.2

    Hello DawsonRian,

You can set your iPad to automatically download your iBook Store purchases.  Here's how:

Enable Automatic Downloads - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202180

Automatically download purchases from the App Store, iBooks Store, or iTunes Store to your computers and iOS devices.

    Books

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

    1. Tap Settings > iTunes & App Store.
    2. If prompted, sign in with your Apple ID.
    3. Tap the content that you want to automatically download. If Books isn't listed, download iBooks from the App Store.

You can turn Automatic Downloads on or off over your cellular network on an iPhone or iPad Wi-Fi + 3G. Go to Settings > Store and turn Cellular Data on or off. Cellular Data downloads are limited to a file size of 50 MB or smaller.

    Cheers,

    Judy
